Travel scenario

Day 1: Arrival in Ushuaia, Argentina (hotel night)

Welcome to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world and the starting point of your exciting Antarctic expedition! Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our staff and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore this picturesque port city.

Horses at Beagle Channel in Tierra del Fuego National Park, Argentina, South America

To get acquainted with local history and nature, visit the End of the World Museum, which features stories about the first expeditions and settlers who inhabited these lands. If you have the entire day, a trip to Tierra del Fuego National Park is highly recommended.

Finish the day with dinner at one of Ushuaia's finest restaurants, where you can savour Argentine steaks and fresh seafood.

Day 2. Welcome aboard!

After breakfast at the hotel, the morning is yours to enjoy. Stroll along the Ushuaia promenade and enjoy stunning views of the snow-capped Andes. This is also a perfect opportunity to pick up souvenirs or warm clothing if you’ve forgotten any essentials.

Beagle Channel Fjords and Glaciers

In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to the expedition vessel. Settle into your comfortable cabins and begin exploring the ship, your home for this exciting adventure. In the evening, briefings and lectures will help you prepare for the journey ahead. After a delicious dinner, step out onto the deck to soak in the captivating views as you pass through the Beagle Channel.

Day 3. South Atlantic Ocean

After navigating the Beagle Channel and leaving Tierra del Fuego behind, you’ll set a course northeast towards the picturesque Falkland Islands. Be sure to keep an eye out – dolphins and whales are often spotted in these waters! Even if the sea becomes a bit choppy, the ship’s stabilisers will ensure your comfort.

The day will pass quickly, filled with fascinating lectures and presentations from our expert team, who will share valuable insights and prepare you for arrival in the Falkland Islands.

Days 4-5. Falkland Islands

The colony of king penguins with grazing sheep at Volunteer Point, Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands are a paradise for bird enthusiasts! Imagine spending two days on remote islands where you can observe large colonies of penguins and albatrosses up close. If you’re more interested in marine life, you’ll be in for a treat as the waters around the archipelago are home to Peale’s and Commerson’s dolphins.

You’ll also visit Port Stanley, the charming capital of the Falkland Islands, where British heritage is ever-present. All the key sights are within walking distance: take a stroll along the waterfront, explore the Falkland Islands Museum, visit the Governor’s residence, and admire the cathedral with its striking whalebone arch. Don’t forget to stop by the war memorial, view the shipwrecks in the bay, and visit local shops for souvenirs or one of the cosy pubs for a drink.

Days 6-7. Southern Ocean

Ready for an exciting adventure? You’re heading east towards the mysterious island of South Georgia. On the way, you’ll cross the Antarctic Convergence, where warm and cold ocean currents meet. Briefings, expert lectures, and bio-security procedures aimed at protecting the ecosystem will prepare you for your arrival in South Georgia. Eager to encounter the wildlife of this remote corner? Get ready to be amazed!

Days 8-12. South Georgia Island

Cooper Bay, Floating Icebergs, South Georgia, South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands, Antarctica

Now you're an explorer! The route and opportunities for exploration in South Georgia are highly dependent on weather conditions. The island’s wildlife is astounding, with over 100 million seabirds, including majestic albatrosses, petrels, and cute penguins.

The beaches of Salisbury Plain and St. Andrews Bay are bustling with life: thousands of elephant seals crowd the shores, king penguins stride proudly among them, and lively macaroni penguins frolic nearby. The surrounding waters teem with life as the whale population continues to grow. At Grytviken, a former whaling station that now houses the excellent South Georgia Museum, you can visit the grave of the legendary polar explorer Ernest Shackleton.

Each day on the island promises exciting excursions, delicious meals, fascinating stories from your guides, and breathtaking scenery — so much so that your camera’s memory card might struggle to capture all the natural wonders!

Days 13-14. Southern Ocean

You'll head towards the Antarctic Peninsula while continuing to observe seabirds and whales. You may also encounter enormous icebergs drifting from the Weddell Sea in these waters.

Days 15-18. South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula

The Antarctic Peninsula is where nature reveals its true power. Here, you’ll witness some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on the planet: narrow channels and calm bays framed by majestic mountains cloaked in eternal snow and vast glaciers. Icebergs of various sizes and fascinating shapes float everywhere. These cold, krill-rich waters are home to whales and seals, while penguins dominate the land, forming large colonies along the shores.

Your exploration will begin in the South Shetland Islands, the northernmost archipelago of Antarctica. With their untouched natural beauty, these islands will be the first land you set foot on in this remote wilderness. Among them is Elephant Island, where members of Shackleton's famous Endurance expedition spent the winter.

As you move further south, you’ll enter the breathtaking Gerlache Strait, a region of stunning beauty with snow-capped cliffs, sheltered coves, and tranquil, mirror-like waters. You’ll embark on excursions in inflatable Zodiac boats to reach the most inaccessible spots. Antarctica’s weather is unpredictable, as is the state of the ice, and these factors will shape your route.

Days 19-20. Drake Passage

Smith Island, the iceberg in Drake Passage

It's time to head north through the famous Drake Passage, but the adventure isn't over yet! Look carefully into the sea - whales, dolphins, and seabirds are often found in these wild waters. In the evening, you will have a farewell cocktail with the captain and watch a slideshow to remember the brightest moments of the trip. And when the ship enters the calm waters of the Beagle Strait, you can enjoy the last night at sea as you head for Ushuaia.

Day 21. Ushuaia, Argentina

After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Ushuaia, the city where your unforgettable journey began. For your convenience, a transfer to the airport or the city centre will be arranged if you want to stay and enjoy this corner of the world a little longer. And perhaps, at this moment, you will be dreaming about your next trip to the world of ice!
