Dance of Life Under the African Sky

Tanzania is remarkably diverse. Tropical forests give way to golden expanses of savannah, and volcanic landscapes coexist with the tranquil lagoons of the ocean. This country is striking in its palette and scale, from the snowy peaks of Kilimanjaro to hot springs and salt lakes.

Let us take a closer look at the natural wonders of Tanzania.

Why does Kilimanjaro attract travellers?

Tanzania is an adventure haven that appeals to a diverse range of travellers.
A safari in Tanzania is the highlight for most tourists. In the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire National Parks, you can encounter all the members of the "Big Five," witness the migration of wildebeest, observe lions in their natural habitat, and marvel at herds of elephants.

Tanzania's underwater world is a true paradise for divers and snorkellers. The turquoise waters and coral reefs surrounding the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba are brimming with life, including turtles, manta rays, reef sharks, and whale sharks.

Cultural excursions. Tanzania is rich in traditions and cultural heritage. Visiting the Maasai and Hadza villages allows one to hear the Swahili language and observe how local tribes live harmoniously with nature. A stroll through Stone Town feels like stepping back in time; its narrow streets, intricately carved wooden doors, and bustling markets narrate the story of a golden age of commerce.

Trekking to volcanoes and hot springs. Beyond Kilimanjaro, Tanzania offers trekking routes to other volcanoes, such as Ol Doinyo Lengai and Mount Meru, along with the hot springs in the Manyara region.

Tastes of Tanzania
Tanzanian cuisine combines local ingredients' simplicity with aromatic spices' richness. The cuisine is centred around dishes made from maize, rice, and fresh vegetables. Ugali, a maize porridge, is typically served with meat or vegetable sauces, and pilau, a spiced rice dish with meat or seafood, is imbued with the enticing aromas of cinnamon and cloves. Along the coast and in Zanzibar, the main delicacies are the ocean's bounties: fish, octopus, and crabs, often prepared with coconut milk or grilled to perfection. For dessert, fresh tropical fruits such as mango and papaya take centre stage alongside sweet mandazi — fried doughnuts flavoured with spices.

Where to Stay?
In Tanzania, everyone can find the perfect place to unwind, from cosy safari lodges in the savannah to chic villas overlooking the azure waters of Zanzibar. Each accommodation blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, offering comfort and an immersive African experience.

Staying within the national parks allows you to get up close and personal with wildlife. Imagine waking up to the roar of lions and enjoying breakfast while watching herds of elephants from your window.

Luxury lodges provide spacious rooms with breathtaking views of the savannah, private pools, and world-class service. Mobile camps that follow the path of the Great Migration ensure you are always at the heart of the action. All accommodation options, from camps to eco-lodges, prioritise ecosystem preservation, combining comfort with a deep respect for nature.

In Zanzibar, you can opt for cosy boutique hotels with a serene, private atmosphere, luxurious villas with private pools and personalised service, or indulgent resorts offering first-class amenities, spas, and gourmet dining.

Mount Kilimanjaro is not one volcano but three extinct volcanic cones: Shira, Mawenzi, and Kibo. Of these, only Kibo, the highest point, is considered potentially active. The last eruption occurred more than 360,000 years ago.

In Tanzania, particularly in Lake Manyara National Park, lions climb trees. These predators seek coolness and protection from the bites of tsetse flies among the branches.

The volcanic structure of the Ngorongoro Crater has been preserved in an almost perfect state. The crater walls, which reach up to 600 metres, create a closed ecosystem that has supported diverse wildlife for thousands of years.

Lake Natron is renowned for its high alkalinity (pH 10.5), caused by its sodium and mineral content. This renders the lake inhospitable — and even deadly — for most living creatures, except for flamingos, which thrive in this environment.

Baobabs, the iconic trees of Africa, can live for up to 2,000 years and store as much as 120,000 litres of water. Their capacity to endure arid savannas has earned them the title "trees of life," and local communities consider them places of power.
