Recently, Scenario Travel organised a unique club journey to Antarctica and Patagonia, where participants followed in the footsteps of great explorers, witnessed breathtaking ice landscapes, and felt the raw power of untouched nature.
This wasn’t just a tour but a true immersion into a world far from civilisation, where nature reigns supreme. What was it like? Here are the highlights!
Our adventure started in Buenos Aires, a city where colonial architecture meets the energy of tango and the taste of fine Argentinian wine.
After a short flight, we arrived in Ushuaia, the southernmost city on Earth. Surrounded by the snow-capped Andes, this was our gateway to Antarctica. We explored the city, ventured into Tierra del Fuego National Park, and then made our way to the port, where the expedition ship The Sea Spirit awaited us.
A cruise through Antarctica’s icy waters aboard The Sea Spirit blended comfort with adventure. Spacious cabins with panoramic windows, a gourmet restaurant, a spa, and a cosy bar overlooking the ocean created the perfect setting to take in the mesmerising landscapes.
"To be honest, continuing a journey after experiencing Antarctica is incredibly difficult! You are simply overwhelmed with emotions. That’s why, to truly appreciate the magnificence of the next destinations, you should stay for at least 4-5 days," shares Petr Litvintsev, co-founder of Scenario Travel.
After disembarking, we headed to El Calafate, the gateway to Argentinian Patagonia. Our stay at Estancia Bonanza allowed us to experience life as true gauchos. This charming lodge offered stunning views, a cosy atmosphere, and the chance to explore the landscape on horseback.
Patagonia is a land unlike any other, with a rugged beauty that captivates the soul. Here, in the shadow of the legendary peaks of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, lies the vast Patagonian Ice Field, spanning around 13,000 sq km.
We explored the Fitz Roy Mountain Park and witnessed the breathtaking Perito Moreno Glacier, watching in awe as massive chunks of ice thundered into the lake.
Crossing into Chile, we arrived at Torres del Paine National Park, a land of turquoise lakes, towering granite peaks, and lush forests. We rode horses, hiked scenic trails, and embraced the tranquillity of this untouched wilderness.
New Year’s Eve was spent at Parque Cascadas Lodge, where the silence of the ancient forest was broken only by the sound of cascading waterfalls. Under the starry Patagonian sky, we celebrated with champagne, a gourmet dinner, and a deep sense of harmony.
Sport fishing – testing our skills and catching trout.
Rafting – navigating wild rapids through dramatic canyons and dense forests.
Horseback riding – galloping through endless landscapes framed by mountains and woodlands.
Cascada de la Virgen – a stunning waterfall showcasing nature’s raw power.
"North Patagonia is a green region that at times resembles both New Zealand and Switzerland. Narrow gorges with a crystal clear river running alongside the road, towering mountains, and cascading waterfalls — it all feels like something only a talented writer could imagine, yet it exists in reality. It’s the perfect place to reconnect with nature and catch your breath after an intense journey. And that’s exactly what we did," says Petr Litvintsev, co-founder of Scenario Travel.
After our deep dive into the wild, we arrived in Santiago, Chile’s elegant capital. Staying at The Singular Santiago, we explored the vibrant Lastarria district and dined at one of the city’s top restaurants.
We ventured to Casas del Bosque Winery for a premium tasting in Chile’s picturesque valleys. Then, we explored Valparaíso — a city of artists, street murals, and colonial charm cascading down hillsides above the Pacific.
Dinner was at Boragó, one of Latin America’s best restaurants. Chef Rodolfo Guzmán works directly with farmers across Chile, from Patagonia’s southernmost reaches to the arid Atacama Desert, and even grows his own produce. This dedication earned Boragó the Latin America’s 50 Best Sustainable Restaurant Award (2018) and a spot among the world’s top 50 restaurants.
"I have been travelling through Chile for 12 years now, and sill discover something new every year. It is one of my favourite countries to explore!" Petr Litvintsev, co-founder of Scenario Travel.
From Antarctica’s icy expanses to Patagonia’s untamed wilderness, from Chilean vineyards to culinary discoveries, from Santiago’s dynamic streets to Valparaíso’s artistic charm — this journey was an endless source of inspiration.
We returned home not just with stunning photos and videos, but also with a renewed appreciation of how extraordinary our world truly is.
