Day 5. Cape Town
The day will start in Cape Town - South Africa's coastal metropolis surrounded by majestic mountains and sandy beaches. Here, you will stay at a five-star resort housed within an erstwhile granary's walls. In 2017, Thomas Heatherwick's London-based architectural firm transformed the granary into a hotel and museum of modern art. The rooms provide incredible views of the ocean and the city.
Dinner will be served at the Kloof Street House restaurant. You can sit inside on elegant armchairs or out on the terrace among greenery. The menu contains both familiar and exotic options, such as ostrich steaks and local cheeses.
Day 6. Surroundings of Cape Town
You will start your day by meeting an English-speaking guide who'll show you Cape Town's surroundings. First up, you'll visit Boulders Beach - a penguin colony of 3000 strong. These tuxedoed birds arrived in 1982, just a couple, and grew into this thriving community. Who'd expect penguins so far south? From a few meters away, observe their natural habitat, but don't get too close - we don't want to scare them!
The next attraction is Cape Point, which has a lighthouse overlooking the boundless expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. After a stroll around the cape, you'll have lunch at the Two Oceans restaurant, which serves a wide variety of seafood on the menu and a terrace with an ocean view.
The Cape of Good Hope is known from books about seafarers as the end of the earth. The myth of the ghost ship "Flying Dutchman" originated here. We see this place as a romantic gem in South Africa; this spot offers a breathtaking perspective. You'll witness the true power of nature.
Next, you will see Chapman's Peak Drive unfold - one of Earth's most captivating roads, weaving along the ocean's edge. After returning to Cape Town, you will have dinner at The Granary restaurant.
Day 7. Table Mountain and Vineyards⠀
Table Mountain (1085 meters) dominates Cape Town's skyline from anywhere. Counted among the New 7 Wonders of Nature, there are two ways up - by cable car or hiking.
After climbing Table Mountain's heights, you will go on a Bo-Kaap's "Malay Quarter" tour. This vibrant neighbourhood's colourful houses are home to descendants of slaves from Indonesia and Malaysia. Preserving history, one of Cape Town's oldest buildings now hosts the Bo-Kaap Museum.
You'll go to Franschhoek in the afternoon, a main winemaking place in South Africa. On your way there, you may visit Delaire Graff or Babylonstoren vineyards.
For the night, you will stay at the elite hotel, which sits in a picturesque valley amid mountains and a river. You'll have dinner at La Petite Colombe restaurant in the vineyards.
Day 8. Cape Agulhas and De Hoop Nature Reserve
After breakfast, you'll visit Cape Agulhas, Africa's southern point. The route passes wineries and picturesque Agulhas village. A 170-year-old lighthouse stands on the cape. Its design was inspired by Alexandria's ancient Lighthouse (3rd century BC), located at Africa's northern end.
Later, you will check into the De Hoop Nature Reserve boutique lodge. This award-winning beachfront hotel has claimed South Africa's Best Beach Hotel title for the past three years. Its rooms offer delightful Indian Ocean panoramas.
Day 9. De Hoop Nature Reserve
This day is scheduled for relaxation after an eventful trip. You can stroll through the dunes mesmerized by the ocean. De Hoop's unspoiled nature captivates, with few tourists disturbing its serenity. From July until October, witness whales and dolphins frolicking in their natural habitat. During warmer months, enjoy scenic oceanside walks and picnics amidst flourishing flora. If energy remains, sandboarding, mountain bking, or short hikes through surrounding landscapes provide active pursuits. If you still have the energy, you can ride a sandboard or mountain bike or plan a short hike around the surrounding area.
Day 10. End of the trip
Early breakfast, checkout, and transfer to Cape Town airport. We hope this vacation will make you want to revisit Africa!
