In our programme, we offer a special and unique stay that allows you to better discover the place.
You'll start your Icelandic adventure with a helicopter ride over newly-formed lava landscapes. From the skies, you'll witness remarkable scenery sculpted by eruptions from Fagradalsfjall volcano - sights unreachable via car or hiking trails. The smouldering craters and molten rock expanses remain piping hot, requiring years upon years to fully cool.
Afterwards, you'll go sightseeing in Reykjavík - Iceland's capital and largest city on the Atlantic Ocean's shores. Surrounded by unique natural splendor, in just hours, you'll visit this state capital's northernmost key spots: from Hallgrímskirkja's monumental Lutheran church and Austurvöllur's central square to Árbæjarsafn's open-air museum. You'll also see Olafur Eliasson's impressive, spacious Harpa Concert Hall architecture.
The first stop will be Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 930, the Alþingi, Europe's earliest Viking parliament, assembled here. Nestled in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge's fault zone, its geology captivates. Experience Earth's heartbeat by traversing rifts where Eurasian and North American plates drift apart.
The next destination: Gullfoss, which translates to "Golden Falls," cascading upon Hvítá River, born from glacial origins. An incredible force unleashed winds whipping up misty clouds - and rainbows gracing sun-dappled waters when conditions allow. Make sure you have that waterproof jacket ready.
Want to enjoy Langjökull glacier's splendour? Snowmobiles let you explore it. Stroll through an ice tunnel aged over 400 centuries! Its surface reveals ash layers from countless volcanic eruptions over time. Real monster trucks will transport you across rugged terrain, traversing impassable roads amidst epic scenery. This adventure promises an unforgettable journey!
Along the path, you’ll arrive at the Haukadalur Valley of Geysers. Here, you will witness Strokkur's impressive display, hurling water up to 30 meters high every 4-6 minutes and demonstrating nature's mighty force.
Today is a day to admire the alien beauty of Iceland's nature.
First, you’ll visit an Icelandic village and historic farm, Keldur. Keldur has an interesting museum showcasing authentic turf houses covered in grass. It's also home to Iceland's oldest structure - a passage 25 meters long, leading from a farm to a stream. Accidentally discovered in 1932, experts think Vikings from the Sturlungs era (11th-13th centuries) built this underground tunnel.
Then, your journey will take you to Seljalandsfoss, a breathtaking cascade pouring from 60 meters high. What's truly special is the chance to stroll behind its thundering flow along a narrow trail. The waterfall's tremendous power creates a misty spray, so dress for getting damp and explore the cave-like space behind the curtain of water.
Your adventure will continue at Iceland's southernmost mainland site - Cape Dyrhólaey, translated as “hole in the door.” From one perspective, you are greeted by the vast Atlantic Ocean and peculiarly shaped black rocks. Yet another vista reveals a tranquil lagoon hidden behind Reynisfjara's expansive volcanic sand beach. If you're lucky, you may even see Iceland's feathered symbols- the endearing puffins.
Next, you will venture to Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland's southernmost village. Experience a captivating lava show, witness molten lava sizzling onto the ice. Explore the fiery nature of volcanoes firsthand.
You'll start your day by visiting the spectacularly gorgeous Fjadrargljufur Canyon - its fame boosted by "Game of Thrones" filming locations there. The canyon's rocky walls are blanketed in lush moss, wildflowers dot its slopes, and a winding river flows within.
After Fjadrargljufur, your easy hike will take you to Svartifoss waterfall, located in Skaftafell National Park. "Black Falls" is renowned for its distinct hexagonal basalt columns formed during lava's gradual cooling crystallisation process.
Next, you'll visit Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap. Massive ice layers, 400m-1000m thick, hide active volcanoes beneath. Close by is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon - nature's frozen magic. Purest water so clear, icy blue drifting bergs, playful seals in river currents, black beach jeweled with sparkling ice shards like diamonds. These scenes look familiar; famous films like “Star Wars,” “James Bond,” “Noah,” and “Lara Croft” were filmed here.
A motorboat cruise across the lagoon will elevate your journey, allowing you to capture unforgettable images. Get up close with towering icebergs capturing awe-inspiring moments through your lens. The journey will bring you tantalisingly near the glacier itself, unveiling nature's raw splendour.
The day's journey will end in Höfn, a small fishing town along the southern coast. This village has one of the few ports in that area for anglers. Here, you can try freshly caught lobster and other seafood.
During today's journey, you'll drive along Iceland's picturesque Eastfjords region. The unique landscape features are low-hanging clouds capping the mountains - a characteristic sight here. Among the highlights is the famous N1 track, famously raced along by Ben Stiller's character on a longboard in the movie about Walter Mitty.
The eastern area is mineral-rich. You’ll have the option to visit the small Petra's Stone Collection, showcasing the region's geological treasures. Your day will conclude in Egilstaðir, a riverside town situated on the banks of Lagarfljót River in eastern Iceland. While relatively small, it plays a significant role in the country's industry and economy. Lake Lagarfljót is a local attraction - folklore claims a serpentine monster, the Lagarfljót worm, lurks in its depths.
Your journey will take you to the Jökuldalsheidi moorland today. This area features rolling hills and mountains. In the past, around a century ago, many farms dotted this region. However, after the Askja volcano erupted in 1875, volcanic ash scorched the entire site, remaining an epic, grey landscape.
The next attraction on your route will be the most powerful waterfall in Europe - Dettifoss, located in Jökulsárgljúfur National Park. This is where life began - according to director Ridley Scott's vision in "Prometheus." The waterfall earned its name ("bubbling falls") for a good reason. Noisy, fast streams plunge 44 meters, roaring mightily forming foam and spray clouds. You'll feel vivid emotions from this tremendous power!
Next, you will visit the Hverarönd geothermal valley, close to Lake Mývatn. This fantastic valley is located in the north of Iceland. You can observe its strange and unique landscape, looking just like the surface of Mars. Craters release steam and gas. Boiling mud bubbles and gurgling sounds come from underground. The pungent smell of hydrogen sulfide rises from the depths. The earth itself seems to breathe here. This reminds us of the immense volcanic energy hidden below.
Afterwards, you'll go to Grjótagjá cave with natural thermal springs. This is where Jon Snow from "Game of Thrones" took hot baths with Ingrid. The route progresses to Dimmuborgir's "Dark Castles" plateau - a mystical, magnificent place. Here, black lava pillars, cliffs, and caves create intricate labyrinths with marked trails. Discover legends about Dimmuborgir's trolls and learn how these fantasy-like formations solidified from lava flows.
After breakfast, you’ll have an opportunity to embark on a whale-watching cruise if desired. Húsavík, the port town, has earned the nickname "Whale Mecca" due to its reputation for allowing sightings of rare blue and humpback whales from proximity.
After the cruise, unwind in a natural wonder: an oceanside spa boasting geothermal pools. The seawater baths maintain temperatures from 38-39°C. These waters hold rejuvenating mineral combinations, beneficial for skin health.
After that, you'll visit the majestic "Waterfall of the Gods" Godafoss, renowned both for natural splendour and intriguing lore. Legend claims in the 10th century, when Iceland embraced Christianity, a theologian named Thorgrimur forsook paganism by hurling idols into the falls - symbolizing conversion to the new faith.
The next stop is Akureyri, the northern capital of Iceland, which sits by the Eyjafjörður. It's surrounded by tall mountains covered in snow. In Akureyri, tourists can do many outdoorsy things like skiing at resorts, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and walking on brightly lit nature trails. The world's northernmost Botanical Garden lies in Akureyri, showcasing thousands of native and foreign plants. Atop a hill above the town stands Akureyri's Lutheran Church. Reaching this shrine requires climbing 110 steps, offering panoramic views of the city and fjord below.
Today, you will have a transfer or flight from Akureyri to Reykjavík.
But before bidding farewell, one last stop awaits - the Blue Lagoon. This milky blue lake, warm and inviting, holds healing waters within. Surrounded by black lava fields adorned with green moss, it contrasts nature's hues. A perfect finale to your Icelandic saga, a tale etched in memories.
Transfer to the airport. Departure from Iceland.
